The "GTFS Semantic Diff Report" service (the "Service") is operated as a research project that analyzes and visualizes changes between versions of public-transport open data (GTFS). By using the Service (running a comparison or viewing a result), you are deemed to have agreed to these terms.
Operator: Masaki Ito (Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology of Social ICT, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo — https://itolab.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp)
| Item | Anonymous use | Signed-in use |
|---|---|---|
| Uploaded zips | Deleted automatically after 7 days | Kept (reusable and deletable from My Page) |
| Result pages from uploads | Deleted automatically after 30 days | Kept (deletable from My Page) |
| Result pages from public feeds | Kept (as a shared cache; the inputs live in the repository, so no zips are stored) | |
Sign-in uses your Google account; the Service never holds a password. What is stored with your account: your e-mail address, your comparison history, and any saved zips with their display names.
The Service records the following usage information: what was compared (operator, feed and version IDs), when it was run, generation and viewing of result pages, feedback contents, and metadata of uploaded files (such as size). IP addresses are kept for a short period (at most 90 days) solely for abuse prevention.
These records are used for academic research (papers, presentations, etc.) only in anonymized, aggregated form. Account information such as e-mail addresses is kept separate from research data and is never published in a personally identifiable form. The operator may inspect these records to the extent necessary to run the Service (incident response, abuse prevention); the contents of uploaded GTFS data are not inspected. Uploaded GTFS data itself (the contents of your zips) is not used for research — it is stored only to reproduce and verify results and for your own reuse.
Uploaded data may be stored on our servers. If you need to analyze data that must not leave your environment, do not upload it — use the open-source CLI version (gtfs-semantic-diff) locally instead. The CLI produces the same analysis as a single self-contained HTML file and sends nothing over the network.
Result pages derived from the GTFS Data Repository display the source operator's name and license (mostly CC BY 4.0). Reuse of result pages must follow the license of the source data. For results derived from uploads, you are responsible for the rights in the data you upload (do not upload data that infringes third-party rights).
Reports are generated mechanically by deterministic rules; no guarantee is made of their accuracy or completeness. Always confirm service information with each operator's official sources. The operator accepts no liability for damages arising from use of the Service. The Service may change or be discontinued without notice.
Removal requests from data rights holders or transit operators, and any other inquiries, can be sent via the "report a problem" form on result pages or via GitHub Issues. Legitimate requests are handled promptly.
Established 2026-07-11. These terms may be revised as needed; significant changes will be announced on this page.
